How to Help:
Police Brutality can be a result of lack of training and experience. When cops are unsure how to react in an uncertain situation they are more prone to act more violently. Some departments don't even require more than a diploma or GED to be hired as a Patrol Officer. As Americans who are clearly not given the rights and safety that we are entitled to, it is time to take a stand.
Police Brutality is such a taboo subject because most people are afraid to speak up. As law abiding citizens it is our responsibility to speak up for those who have been abused by the law, whether it be us or our peers.
The United States of America was and is a society based on the opinions of The People, our Constitution clearly starts with, "We the People." So as The People we need to stand up and make a change.
Each organization under the "Resource" page is devoted to ending Police Brutality. One thing we all can do is post our own testimonies or testimonies of friends and family. Then share testimonies with state legislators to write a Bill that will put harsher punishments and hold Officers accountable for their insidious actions as well as put potential and current officers under broader education and training in order to decrease the amount of uncertain situations.
Youtube has endless footage of Police misconduct, anytime we see any sign of Police Abuse get it on film and share it on this page, youtube, as well as with Legislators. The longer this crime stays underground the longer citizens will go on suffering. Shed a light on this subject and end the abuse.
